The “Access Denied List” replaces “Blacklisting”
The term “blacklisting” has been retired across CABS and CRICE — a change unanimously agreed by the participating hospital groups.
More importantly, we want to put everyone at ease: denial of access is reserved strictly for gross unethical conduct and/or repeated breaches of hospital policies.
All theatre cases are exempt from pre-planned CABS booking
No pre-planned CABS booking is required for any theatre case — not only short-notice theatre cases. The Integrated CABS process kicks in when you scan the Check-In code — at Pharmacy, Wards, ICU, Theatre, wherever it is displayed.
NAPPI code fields are removed from CABS
NAPPI codes are no longer collected at any facility, and the field has been removed from CABS. There is no NAPPI question at check-out.
PNPs are exempt from pre-planned CABS bookings
All facilities Private Nurse Practitioners (PNPs) do not need to make pre-planned bookings on CABS, but must scan in and out to use the Integrated CABS system. The requirement that the treating physician has obtained consent from the patient where medical care is provided still remains.
Netcare and Life Healthcare facilities PNPs also scan QR codes when entering the units, referencing consent and thereby preserving traceability — no bookings are made by PNPs.
Pre-planned appointments using CABS is preferred
Pre-planned appointments remain the best way to visit a facility, and we encourage you to use them wherever you can. Where pre-planning is genuinely not possible, simply use the Integrated CABS process on arrival and let us know the reason pre-planning was not possible.
